ROratz
An era of Camp Morasha history came to an end on erev Rosh Hashanah when Rabbi Pesach Oratz, zt"l, passed away following his 46th summer in camp. Each summer, Rabbi Oratz touched the hearts, minds and souls of campers of all ages. No one was too simple, as he taught little ones in Day Camp, or too advanced, as he taught Machzor Aleph, Machzor Bet, the Kollels and Staff, to be able to learn from him and be inspired by him. Rabbi Oratz was gentle, kind and good humored; sharp, wise, and insightful; a tremendous talmid chacham with shas and poskim at his fingertips; as well as opinionated, outspoken and tolerant. He influenced generations of Morasha campers, in some cases having taught two or three generations of the same family. The extended Morasha family, campers and alumni, feels this loss deeply and extends our condolences to his wife, Chani, and his entire family, all of whom were campers at Morasha as well. As a living tribute to Rabbi Oratz's memory, a page has been established on the Morasha website where you can sign up to learn Tanach le-illui nishmato, and where you can share stories and memories of our beloved teacher. On Monday evening, November 2 at 7:30 PM EST (the 46th day following his death, commemorating his 46 years at Morasha), there will be a live webcast during which the siyyum will take place and representatives of camp will share memories and words of Torah.
