Week Two 2025
Dear Friends,
In the very beginning of the Torah, we’re told: “And God saw all that He had made, and behold — it was very good (טוב מאוד) – Bereishit 1:31.” From the first moments of creation, Hashem is described as a Being who sees good. The world was far from perfect — it still had darkness, challenges, imperfections — but Hashem focused on the good… even called it “very good!” If we are created b’tzelem Elokim, then part of our mission is to train ourselves to see the good, even when it’s mixed with the not-so-good.
This week’s theme was “See the Good in the World.” All too often, we focus on the negative — in our schools, shuls, camps, communities, and homes. We’ve worked on taking a step back to recognize how much Tov — how much good there is in our lives.
Every Pre-Shabbat, we award seven boys and seven girls with ‘values bracelets’ — campers who embodied one of our seven core values here at Morasha. When we get up to the value of Appreciation, I say the same thing each week: “We are so lucky to be in a camp like Camp Morasha but we do not take that — or anything — for granted because in this camp, Gratitude is an” and the entire camp screams “ATTITUDE!” It’s all about having a positive attitude, an Ayin Tovah, and we look forward to continuing to work on this important middah in the weeks to come.
Our second
week of camp hasn’t been good — it’s been great. Enjoy this
