The Overnight Adventure

On Monday night, the Older Shtili boys went on a overnight with our Israeli Mishlachat, led by Ariel Cohen. First, we hiked into the woods, starting from a path by the Pargod. We saw deer and Ariel told us about the time he followed a female bear into the woods and took a picture. He showed us the spot but we couldn’t go into the cave there because there was a big pit blocking it. Then we hiked to “Machane Yisrael” and had a barbecue dinner with Cola and Dipsy Doodles.

Shlomo from the Mishlachat told us about his job in a tank during Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, and how you need at least four people to make the tank operate successfully. He told us about the lesson he learned, which was to love all people even if you do not know them (Ahavas Chinam, the opposite of Sinas Chinam, which was the reason for the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash). Then the campers who weren’t sleeping at the overnight site went back to camp. After they left, we roasted marshmallows and hot dogs. After Ariel told a funny story, we set up our sleeping bags and went to sleep in our tents.

Looking forward to tonight’s night activity, the hypnotist!
