Week One 2025

Dear Friends,
Our campers and staff have begun the magical and meaningful journey of summer camp. The excitement that was beaming from our camper’s faces as they stepped off the bus was contagious. We feel humbled and privileged to be part of creating this world that allows children to grow, play, sing, dance, and forge lifelong friendships with peers and staff — device free! We can’t thank you enough for partnering with us as we kick off our Morasha 2025 season.
As we’ve shared, the educational theme of this summer is עוד יותר טוב: See the Good. Be the Good. I look forward to using my weekly pre-Shabbat emails to highlight each weeklysub-theme and how those values and lessons are being woven through the daily rhythm of camp. This focus is unique in that it challenges a culture-shift throughout camp — to approach life with an Ayin Tovah, with positivity and optimism.
I had the zechut to visit Moish (“da Baker”) Birnbaum z’l with my two older sons a few short weeks before he was niftar. Moish was a holocaust survivor who spent over five decades working on our staff with his wonderful wife, Malka. He was most famous for his ‘Shabbos Cake’ — a recipe that we still haven’t been able to come close to replicating. At my visit with my kids, I asked him what the secret ingredient was. His response was unforgettable: “Jeremy — it had nothing to do with what I did with my hands. The secret is what I felt in my heart.”
Our hope this summer is to inspire our campers to learn from Moish’s example — to fill their hearts with positivity, joy, love, and life. And then to ‘Be the Good’ to those around them. We thank you — our parents — for partnering with us in this most important mission of inculcating Jewish values through fun and creative programming. As always, please feel free to reach out if we can be of any help. Until then, enjoy our first PreShabbat Videoby clicking here and our Shalhevet Newsletter by clicking here.
From our home to yours, wishing you and your family a Shabbat Shalom!
