Dear Friends,

We say each morning in Shacharit, “Elokai neshama shenatata bi, tehorah hi” – “My God, the soul you placed in me is pure.” Not “was pure,” not “might be pure,” but IS pure. Still pure. Always pure.

This week’s theme was “See the Good in Ourselves.” It is no secret that kids today are facing an unprecedented struggle with self-esteem, and many studies are sounding the alarm. With constant exposure to social media, academic pressures, and a world that often measures worth by achievement or appearance, children are internalizing unrealistic standards from a young age. It’s more important than ever to help children reconnect with their inherent value, build resilience, and learn to see the good in themselves — not just for what they do, but for who they are.

This is the magic of summer camp. Summer camp can be a powerful boost for kids’ self-esteem, giving them a chance to grow in a supportive, pressure-free environment. Away from the academic and social pressures of school and completely unplugged from their devices, kids get to try new activities, discover hidden talents, and succeed in ways that aren’t measured by grades or test scores. Whether it’s learning to swim, making new friends, or leading a Shiria song, every win—big or small—builds confidence. Surrounded by encouraging counselors and peers, children begin to see themselves as capable, valued, and unique, which strengthens their sense of self and helps that confidence carry over into the rest of their lives.

We are strong believers that you — our parents — are partners in this mission. It was an absolute pleasure seeing so many of you up at camp this past Sunday.
